Why Choose Coast To Coast
for Your Mediation Training?

We have been mediating since 1982 and have given 148 divorce and civil mediation trainings, in the U.S. and abroad. You benefit from our years of experience and from having both an attorney and a therapist as your trainers. Elizabeth Allen is a Cornell University graduate. She practiced civil and criminal law for twenty years. Don Mohr graduated from Art Center College of Design, earned an M.A. in human development, and was a therapist in private practice. Our workshop participants tell us that they appreciate our interdisciplinary approach to mediation.

If you attend our workshop, you will receive an interactive mediation manual which contains the forms that we have developed for running an efficient mediation practice. You will also receive our mediation forms and a sample memorandum of understanding.

We take you step-by-step through a mediation, from the initial
phone contact with a prospective client through the final signing
session. We teach you the ten essential mediation skills.
We show you how to deal with both the legal and emotional
issues involved in a dispute.

Although the differences between conducting a divorce mediation and a civil mediation are minor, it helps to be familiar with them. If you attend a Coast To Coast mediation training workshop, you will participate in several role plays about divorce issues. We generally include one role play about a workplace dispute, unless the group leader requests otherwise.

We keep our trainer to participant ratio small, so that you receive individual attention from both of us and have numerous opportunities to practice your mediation skills. If you wish, you can be videotaped on the last day, so that you can evaluate your progress.

We provide you with a directory of Coast To Coast grads in your state. You can use that list to find a mediation partner, to form a group, and to exchange referrals. As a participant in our divorce mediation training, you will learn how to set up a mediation practice and how to market your services. At the conclusion of our mediation training, you will receive a Certificate of Completion suitable for framing and displaying in your office.

We are the authors of "Affordable Justice, how to settle any dispute, including divorce, out of court" and also of "Ten Steps to Effective Mediation Marketing." We make these available on a complimentary basis to all who attend our private trainings.

Graduates of our mediation training have told us for years that they got much more than they expected from our mediation training. Here is an example from an attorney.

"It was excellent and you guys work really hard! The best workshop I've taken in the last 20 years." L. Kolakowski
